Caring Woman Spends Night In Shelter With Dying Dog So He Won’t Be Alone

As someone who loves dogs as much as we do, we know you’re going to just melt into a puddle when you hear about this woman’s kind actions for a dog she hardly knew. Her name is Janine Guido, and the moment she met Watson, she knew he was special.

“The first thing I noticed with him was his eyes,” Guido, founder of Speranza Animal Rescue, told The Dodo. “He looked exhausted — like he was ready to give up the fight.”

Watson had been staying at the local emergency vet, having 24-hour care after a college student had found him wandering around a Philadelphia park all by himself. He was emaciated, covered in sores, and had a large tumor on his leg.

Sadly, the tumor on Watson’s leg was cancerous, and it had been untreated for so long that it had spread throughout his body. When he was transferred back to the shelter, it was obvious that he just wanted someone to love and comfort him during his final moments on earth.

“I had a gut feeling that things weren’t going to be good the next day,” she said. “I didn’t want to leave him alone. Not when he needed me the most.”
