You might be wondering why Scarlett hasn’t been adopted in all these years despite her being so loving and cuddly. Well — the manager suspects it’s because she’s not that great with other dogs. She’d have to be the only dog in the household.
The staff even admits that they’ve grown particularly fond of Scarlett so part of them didn’t want to let her go — they didn’t push her to families as hard as they maybe should have. They do realize that she’s deserving of more than a shelter — it’s time for her to go home.
But more about Scarlett! They say that she’s maybe looked over because she doesn’t really promote herself “People look at her, and she’s the one-eyed dog who is not jumping up to greet them, though many of the other dogs are,” says the shelter manager.
The staff at Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne’s County would like to see her in a calm household that is ready to take in a deaf dog — and you don’t even need to be in Maryland! They’ll adopt out of state as well.
